Interview with Visor Founder: Melissa Franklin

What led you to starting Visor? 

I have seen firsthand my mother’s battle with melanoma skin cancer, which I am beyond grateful she has survived. It is a wakeup call.  Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer, yet it is also the most preventable. I hope to make quality sunscreen attainable and enjoyable so that people will want to wear it daily, therefore saving lives. 

What is your mission at Visor?

I want clean, quality sunscreen to become a part of our daily routine. It is the everyday effects of the UVA/UVB and environmental damage that causes years of harm.  I am creating clean SPF that is also daily skincare for everyone. 

What has been your biggest learning since starting Visor?

I am grateful to learn that young consumers are very educated and super savvy about SPF and skincare ingredients.  I am happy to create a product that has both. 

What was your first job?

My first job outside of babysitting was working at the shopping local mall for a natural beauty skincare and cosmetics store. Go figure. Even at an early age I loved talking with consumers about what they like and understanding how to help them. 

What gets you up in the morning?

My Children. They are always my #1 (and they wake me up!)

After that, every day is different, however, if at the end of the week I have delivered quality products that people will love and can save lives, I feel motivated to keep going.  

What's next for Visor? (more product lines, etc) 

Visor CLEAR is our first product line.  We have new products coming soon that we can’t wait to share with you.  However, I always want to know what our consumers want! Please, send us a note and give us your feedback!
